Public and Members Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Can I attend Parish Council Meetings?
A. Yes. The Parish Council is obliged to publish notices three clear days before each meeting. These notices include details of the meeting - where and when it will take place - plus what is on the agenda. The notices are on display on Council notice boards, in the Village Hall and the local library. They are also available on request from the Parish Clerk.
Q. Can I partipate in the meeting?
A. There is a section of the meeting set aside for questions and petitions from members of the public. You will not however be able to speak in the main part of the meeting unless by prior consent of the Chair.
Q. Can I ask the Parish Council to discuss a particular issue?
A. Yes, you can ask the Clerk or a Councillor to put an item on the agenda. Such a request should not be unreasonably refused.
Q. Can members of the public see the papers?
A. Generally yes. A few matters may, however, be confidential and are not legally available to the public. The minutes of meetings, which summarise decisions made, are published on this website and are available to read at the Parish Office and other public venues. Copies are available on request from the Parish Clerk.
Q. How can I speak to a Councillor?
A. As well as being able to attend most Council meetings and having access to meetings papers and minutes, you can also contact your local Councillor about relevant issues. The list of Councillors' names, contact details and their Committee roles can be found under the 'Meet The Council' section of this website Here.
Q. How do I make a complaint?
A. First you should put your complaint in writing to the Parish Clerk. For more details of the complaints procedure adopted by the Council, please contact the Clerk, details can be found Here.
Q. Can I record, film and broadcast a public meeting?
A. Please read our guidelines regarding the principles of broadcasting public meetings Here.
